Laura Andersonwas awarded ‘runner up’ in Staffordshire Young Musician of the Year in 2013, performing an eclectic combination of Paul Hindemith and Franz Strauss. She is currently studying music at Cardiff University, where she is taught by Donald Clist, horn player in the Welsh National Opera (WNO). She is principal horn of Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra and there she has played large orchestral works such as Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Fauré’s Requiem, and Rachmaninov’s Symphony no. 2.

Having only performed the first movement of Strauss’ Horn Concerto No. 1 with an orchestra, Laura is delighted to have the opportunity to perform the work in full. Laura plans to pursue a teaching career following the completion of her degree, and is particularly inspired by children with special educational needs.
